IWU's state licensure disclosures, program by program
IWU's 2022 disclosures for its NP programs say the curriculum meets educational requirements for licensure in all 50 states, with extra steps noted for New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island. The ASN-to-MSN FNP disclosure is narrower: it lists Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan and marks the rest not yet determined. Here is how to read each document and what it means for where you train.

Where the disclosures live and what they cover
IWU posts its professional licensure disclosures as PDFs on its Student Consumer Information page, one per program. Each states whether IWU has found that the program's curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure in a given state. They look ahead to the license you will seek after graduation, not to where you can train right now.
IWU is an NC-SARA member institution and says it is authorized to offer distance education in all SARA-member states. Its catalog adds that it has approvals or exemptions from every state where it enrolls online students, naming the Indiana Department of Education, the Indiana State Board of Nursing, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, the Ohio Board of Regents and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
SARA membership and a licensure disclosure answer different questions. One concerns IWU's permission to teach you online where you live; the other concerns whether the curriculum lines up with a state's licensing requirements.

DC and the US territories don't appear in the 2022 NP documents. For comparison, the September 2022 pre-licensure BSN disclosure covers all 50 states and DC, and IWU posts a separate one for the MSN in Health Systems Leadership.
What "not yet determined" means
It means IWU had not reached a conclusion for that state when the document was prepared. It is neither a finding that the curriculum meets the state's requirements nor a finding that it falls short.
For an ASN-to-MSN FNP student outside the five listed states, that is a question to settle before you count on the program for licensure at home. Ask IWU in writing whether it has made a determination for your state since the PDF was posted, and file the reply.
IWU publishes no list of states it excludes from its online nursing programs, and none of its disclosures places a state under "does not meet". Rely on IWU's own documents and written answers rather than lists compiled by outside directories.
When two IWU documents disagree
Two conflicts sit on the same IWU page. The BSN-to-DNP has current 2022 files listing all 50 states and older 2020 files, still linked, that list five. And the ASN-to-MSN FNP document names five states even though ASN-to-MSN FNP students complete the same MSN FNP clinical courses as students covered by an all-50-states disclosure.
For the BSN-to-DNP, the later date points to the 2022 files as current, yet IWU hasn't taken the 2020 versions down. The ASN-to-MSN FNP case runs the other way: its document is the more recent one, and the narrower one. Either way, the resolution belongs to IWU. Ask which document governs your program and state, and keep the answer with your records. Our ASN-to-MSN page covers the rest of that route.
The New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island notes
The 2022 footnotes flag state-specific steps in three places. In New Hampshire, applying more than five years after graduation calls for a pharmacology course or 30 continuing-education hours. In New York, coursework on New York and federal prescription law is needed. In Rhode Island, new graduates must show certification within one year.
New York adds a separate rule about the clinicals themselves. Its education department says out-of-state and online nursing programs must be registered or approved by NYSED to place students in clinical rotations there, outside federal VA and armed forces facilities, and that the NP program itself must be registered for NP students. New Hampshire's placement rule for programs based elsewhere is written for pre-licensure education, and the state's licensing office lists post-licensure programs as outside the Board's regulation. Our New Hampshire guide has the detail.
Disclosures and your clinical site are separate questions
A disclosure speaks to licensure after you finish. Your placement today runs on other rules: IWU's requirement for an active, unencumbered RN license in each state where you have a practicum site, and whatever the site's state asks of programs based elsewhere. Take a student who lives and trains in Michigan. For the site, that student needs a Michigan RN license, since Michigan sits outside the Nurse Licensure Compact. Whether the curriculum meets Michigan's educational requirements for the NP license later is the disclosure's job, and Michigan appears as meeting requirements in every IWU NP disclosure, old and new.
Scope of practice is a third layer again. The FNP certificate page says the program addresses Indiana scope-of-practice requirements and tells students who intend to practice elsewhere to check that state's rules.

Does IWU accept online NP students from every state?
IWU says it has approvals or exemptions from all states where it enrolls online students, and it belongs to NC-SARA. It publishes no list of states it excludes, and its 2022 NP disclosures list all 50 states as meeting educational requirements. If you are on the ASN-to-MSN FNP route, or unsure for any reason, confirm your state with IWU before you enroll.
Is IWU's FNP program approved for licensure in my state?

Does NC-SARA membership cover my IWU clinicals?
It covers IWU's authorization to offer distance education in SARA-member states. State boards can still set their own conditions for clinical placements. New York's education department, for example, says clinical placements there require prior approval or exemption from its Office of the Professions, including for out-of-state SARA institutions.
Is there a licensure disclosure for IWU's ASN-to-MSN PMHNP?
None was found on IWU's Student Consumer Information page. Students on that route go on to the same PMHNP clinical courses as the MSN PMHNP, whose 2022 disclosure lists all 50 states, but that document doesn't name the ASN-to-MSN route. Ask IWU which disclosure applies to you and keep the written answer.
Does a disclosure mean I will get an NP license in my state?
No. A disclosure addresses whether the curriculum meets a state's educational requirements. Licensure also depends on national certification and each state's application steps. Indiana, for instance, asks for a transcript, a background check and license verifications, and prescribing there needs a collaborative practice agreement; see Indiana APRN practice.
