New Hampshire and Indiana Wesleyan: the extra-step note, clinicals and licensing
IWU's 2022 disclosures list New Hampshire as meeting educational requirements for its nurse practitioner programs, with one difference from most states: a note about extra steps for New Hampshire. Read that note before you enroll. The clinical side is simpler, because the Board's placement filings target pre-licensure schools and New Hampshire honors multistate licenses.

IWU's disclosure and the New Hampshire note
IWU is part of NC-SARA. Its September 30, 2022 disclosures for six NP programs leave the "does not meet" list empty but attach notes on extra steps for three states, New Hampshire among them. The wording sits in each program's PDF on IWU's Student Consumer Information page, so open the one for your program and ask IWU admissions what it requires today.
The June 2024 ASN-to-MSN FNP disclosure is a separate matter: it places New Hampshire among the 45 states still "not yet determined". Our licensure disclosures page explains how to read both.

Nur 602.15 is written for pre-licensure schools
Under Nur 602.15(j), a pre-licensure school based outside New Hampshire tells the Board it intends to place students before contracting with a New Hampshire facility, then allows six weeks of lead time for each placement. Its filings are a yearly Form A petition, one Part B Student Clinical Placement form for every rotation and a Clinical Preceptor Agreement for each preceptor. RN-BSN, RN-MSN and other post-licensure programs appear on OPLC's education page as outside Board regulation.
One loose end: the rule's LII copy lists January 23, 2026 as its expiration, yet OPLC was still citing it in January 2026, and a readoption is unconfirmed. Either way, IWU reviews every site and preceptor you propose.
Full practice NPs from Concord to Nashua
AANP rates New Hampshire full practice, so NP-owned primary care and psychiatric practices sit alongside hospital clinics. Who may precept an IWU student is IWU's decision, set out in its NP Clinical Guidelines; preceptor requirements lists what to ask a candidate.
The systems you will hear about are Dartmouth Health, which runs Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center; Concord Hospital Health System; HCA Healthcare's Catholic Medical Center; and Elliot Health System and Southern New Hampshire Health, two SolutionHealth founders whose boards proposed ending that alliance in July 2025. Manchester-Nashua counts about 433,000 people and Concord about 158,000, with roughly 459,000 more in New Hampshire's slice of the Boston metro. Use the names to see where care concentrates, not as promised placements.
Compact licensing, and the Massachusetts catch
IWU wants an active, unencumbered RN license on file for each state where your practicum sites sit. New Hampshire has issued compact licenses since January 19, 2018, so a New Hampshire multistate license, or one from Maine or Indiana, covers a New Hampshire practice.
Students near the border sometimes weigh a site in Massachusetts, which enacted the compact in November 2024 but has not implemented it; implementation is targeted for May 2027. What are the extra steps IWU notes for New Hampshire?
IWU's September 2022 NP disclosures keep New Hampshire in the meets column but attach a note about additional steps, as they do for New York and Rhode Island. The wording is in the program PDFs on IWU's Student Consumer Information page. Rules may have shifted since 2022, so ask IWU admissions what the note means for your program now.
Does IWU file a Form A with the New Hampshire Board for my NP rotation?
Form A, the Part B placement form and the Clinical Preceptor Agreement belong to Nur 602.15(j), which covers out-of-state pre-licensure programs. OPLC lists post-licensure programs as unregulated by the Board. Because IWU's disclosure flags extra steps for New Hampshire, confirm with your program faculty whether any filing applies to your placement.
I live near Nashua. Can my IWU clinical be in Massachusetts?
Only with a license Massachusetts accepts. Massachusetts has enacted the compact but, as of this update, has not implemented it, with May 2027 as the target, so a New Hampshire multistate license does not yet work there. IWU also expects clinicals in your own community and approves every site, so raise a cross-border option with faculty early.
Do New Hampshire NPs need a physician partner to precept me?
State law does not require one. New Hampshire is full practice on AANP's map, so an NP can run an independent practice and host a student. IWU still sets preceptor criteria in its NP Clinical Guidelines and approves each preceptor, so confirm that a candidate meets them before asking for a commitment.
