IWU Preceptor exists for one group of students: Indiana Wesleyan nurses who have to secure their own preceptors and clinical sites. We have helped them since IWU made student-found preceptorships part of its nurse practitioner programs, and everything we do is shaped around IWU's courses, rules and approval process.

Why we focus on one university
Placement is specific. An FNP preceptor who suits another school's course may not fit IWU's PYC-670, and a site that works around a semester calendar can clash with IWU's one-course-at-a-time model. Working with IWU students alone lets us know the course codes, the encounter floors and the approval steps in real depth.
It also means we speak IWU's language. We refer to the School of Integrated Health, the Division of Nursing, Medatrax and the NP Clinical Guidelines the way IWU does, so what we prepare lines up with what your faculty expect to see.
What we do, and how thoroughly
- Course-first matching. Every search starts from your next course code and the setting it calls for, from primary care across the lifespan to psychotherapy, leadership or teaching.
- Your community first. We look where you live and hold an RN license, in Indiana and in every other state our students call home.
- Complete files. We gather and check preceptor credentials, license details and site information so your submission to IWU is whole the first time.
- Encounter planning. For FNP students, we plan sites around IWU's adult, women's health and pediatric encounter floors across the Lifespan courses.
- On call through the course. If a preceptor steps away, a replacement search starts the day you tell us.
- One advisor across courses. Your placement advisor keeps your details, so each new course starts from what we already know.
How we work alongside IWU
IWU sets the rules and makes the decisions. It vets and approves every site and preceptor, its faculty visit sites and run evaluations in FNP clinical courses, and your syllabus defines what each course requires. We work inside that structure, bringing IWU a well-prepared placement and leaving the judgment with IWU.
Our guides follow the same principle. We write them from IWU's catalog, program pages and official sources, flag where IWU's own figures conflict, and point you to the NP Clinical Guidelines or your faculty wherever the detail is not public. The IWU clinical systems hub collects them in one place.
Who we help
Most of the students we help are in IWU National & Global's online graduate programs: the MSN FNP and PMHNP, the ASN-to-MSN routes, the post-graduate certificates, the BSN-to-DNP and the Systems Leadership DNP. We also place Health Systems Leadership and Nursing Education students, and RN-to-BSN students whose capstone needs a site beyond their workplace.
Many live in Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Illinois and Michigan, and IWU's online model means the rest are spread across the country. The programs hub and the state guides show where each fits.
What a finished placement looks like
By the time your course opens, you should have a named preceptor whose practice fits the course, a site that matches IWU's setting expectations, and every credential and license detail IWU asked for already in your submission. FNP students should also know which encounter categories that site will feed.
That is the standard we hold every search to. When circumstances change, for example because a preceptor moves to a new job, the same advisor picks the search back up with your history in hand, so the replacement fits the course as closely as the original did.

Is IWU Preceptor part of Indiana Wesleyan University?
No. We are an independent placement team that works for IWU nursing students. IWU runs your program, vets and approves every site and preceptor, and has the final say on your courses. Our job is to find preceptors who fit and to prepare what IWU reviews.
How long have you been helping IWU students?
Since IWU made student-found preceptorships part of its nurse practitioner programs. Our focus has followed IWU's own program list, so we cover the FNP and PMHNP tracks, the DNP options, and the leadership and education MSNs as well.
Who will I work with?
A placement advisor from our placement desk handles your search from first message to IWU's approval and stays assigned to you for later courses. You can reach the desk through the site's chat, the form, or WhatsApp and text, whichever suits your schedule.
Where do you find preceptors?
Close to home: the search centers on the area where you live and on the states where your RN license is active. That matches IWU's description of clinical training and its rule that your license must be valid in the state of every practicum site. We work across Indiana and throughout the rest of the country.
Can I come to you for a single course?
Yes. Some students want help with every practicum course, and others need one hard-to-fill placement, such as pediatric time for the FNP encounter floor or a therapy-focused site for a PMHNP course. Tell us which course you need, and your advisor will scope the search to it.
